14 years and 3 generations apart. The 458 is actually in Rosso Scuderia , the colour Ferrari use on their modern race cars (because “it shows better on TV” or something like that). Older cars were not available in that shade.

Looks like the 458 driver couldn’t make it in all the way.

355 hands down. I don’t care if it’s slow. I don’t care that engine out maintenance is mandatory for everything. I don’t care if DeMuro thinks they’re a money pit (he’s right).

I know I’m old, beause when I look at that picture, I see a car on the left that is beautiful in a classically modern sort of way. On the right I see something that a new money douchebag drives and wrecks within a week.

Same here!

There’s a certain timelessness in restrained design. The one on the right is clearly more modern, but in 14 years won’t have aged as well. IMHO.

I... I can’t tell the difference. I’m sure it’s more apparent in person.

Also, you have to be very unoriginal to buy a red Ferrari. Yellow with a tricolor stripe is best Ferrari color.

They do call it “Resale Red” in the ownership circles!

We make fun of each other in a self-deprecating way all the time, but there is a curb on the far right that you very much do not want to touch with your 458.

Curb damage......more than I can afford, pal!!

There are some with older cars like F355s and 348s that whine about how kitsch and fashion-fad the newer supercars are.

I personally think the 458 looks great and would rock one if I could swing it. Plus they’re more robustly engineered, and with a Novitec exhaust setup they can replicate the F355’s characteristic F1 exhaust sound.

That said, nothing looks like an F355 out on the road. Not even an MR2. It is quite a timeless work of art, indeed.

I wouldn’t doubt that the 20million dollar or whatever supercomputer that Ferrari has probably did spit our some data saying a certain shade of red looks better on TV. That same supercomputer also will tell them how many ferrari’s to sell exact (399, 599) to keep exclusivity. Basically Ferrari has went full Skynet.

I’ll bet it was a €20.000/yr supercomputer. One day it probably told its supervisor: “Ciao Gianluca! I was watching the old race last night and our cars are too dark. Rosso Corsa is too dark on these new TVs. It looks too much like Rosso Alfa now. Let’s use a lighter red. No? Tomorrow? OK, let’s go get a drink first. Perhaps we change paint next year. But we will still use the old paint on the road cars, yes? It still looks better in real life.”

The benchmark Ferrari V8 models, no? I suppose a 308 goes to the left but these two act as key milestones methinks.

458 not exactly beautiful...but I won’t kick it out of bed for eating crackers.

I do know a 328 GTS owner or two. The gentleman who owns the 458 was actually the one who introduced me to my car. Great guy!

I happen to really like the 458. If I could swing one I would get Novitec headers and catback. That setup sounds like the F355 Capristo, turned up to “Over 9000, bro”!

The difference is more apparent in person. Rosso Scuderia is oranger. It’s about as orange as red could be before people stopped calling it red.

Hell no. Rosso Dino or Silver if you care about resale more.
